How is Adios Adventure Travel able to offer the sale of Inca Trail hiking permits to Machu Picchu in the US? With our main office in Cusco, we also have an office in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It's not necessary to go through our Peruvian office to get confirmed hiking permits for the Inca Trail. Our two offices work together to organize hikes to any of the well-known trails in Peru including Salkantay, Lares Valley, Choquequirao and Cachiccata. The Inca Trail hikes are the only treks that require permits and they're subject to sell out sometimes months in advance.

Vidal Jaquehua is the owner and manager of the Adios office in Peru. Jacquie Whitt is the owner and manager of the Adios office in the US. We've been working together since 2007. Adios works exclusively to organize custom, private tours, treks and off-the-beaten path activities in South America. Adventure is our specialty. And customer service is the most important service we provide. You can contact us by phone, emal or text to get answers to your questions and information to help you prepare for your trip.

What if Inca Trail hiking permits are not available for your dates?

Unlike other companies who have buttons to click and buy online for your hiking permits, we do it differently. Inca Trail hiking permit availability can change day to day. There's only one private portal which is open only to tour operators, to check permit availability. If you are on a website and you click a button and pay a deposit what do you think happens if permits are not avallable? You would need to get a refund. But that's not all. While you're waiting to get confirmation, tickets for other dates you could book your hike on could sell out.

Adios Adventure Travel only sells Inca Trail permits if they're available. (This applies to Machu Picchu tickets as well.)

Below you'll see a link to view our Inca Trail hikes. You'll notice that there is no payment needed at this stage of planning. There is a green button for "CHECK AVAILABILITY" for each trip.

CLICK HERE to view the 4-Day Inca Trail Hike description and to choose your dates (without payment) You'll be invited to "JOIN WAITLIST." When you do this, your email and hike dates will be sent to our team in the US or Peru and from there we'll confirm permit availability and let you know, usually the same day. Or within 12 hours. We'll also let you know if other dates are available within the range of dates y ou are asking about.

CLICK HERE to view the 1-Day Inca Trail Hike description and to choose your dates (without payment) The 1-day hike is part of a 2 day trip to Machu Picchu and the same applies. You can cllick the green button for "CHECK AVAILABILITY."

Once we're in touch with you, we'll provide everything you need to make your reservation.

What do you need to do to reserve your Inca Trail hike permits?

1. We'll provide you with a link to upload a photo of the valid passport for each hiker. (in case anyone in your group is planning to renew their passport before the trip, we'll provide instructions for booking the hike)

2. We'll provide you with a secure link to pay a non-refundable deposit.

Can Inca Trail permits be changed, refunded, banked for future use, or transferred to someone else?

No. If you don't show up, your spot will go empty without any refund.

Is there a waiting list for Inca Trail hiking permits if they are sold out?

No. Inca Trail hiking permits are sold on a first come basis. Once they're sold out, there is no refund. So there's no wait list. End of story. This is the Peru government policy and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

What if you have members in your group who can't or don't want to hike the Inca Trail?

As long as you let us know at the time you are making your reservations, we can set up  a 2-in-1 itinerary so that while hikers are on the Inca Trail, other members of your group can explore the Sacred Valley then take the train to Machu Picchu and meet up with you after the hike, at your hotel. We can arrange for hikers and train travelers to overnight in a hotel in Aguas Calientes then enjoy a guided tour of Machu Picchu ruins on the day after the hike ends. Everyone returns to Cusco or continues with other activities as scheduled.

Call our US office to set up a free consultation about hiking the Inca Trail or traveling anywhere in Peru, including Amazon jungle or Lake Titicaca, as well as Ecuador / Galapagos Islands and Chile / Patagonia / Easter Island.
