Day 1: Santiago (SCL) to Ranu Kau-Orongo / Museum / Tahai / Rapa Nui Dancers with Dinner

Be at Santiago airport at least 3h prior to scheduled departure. Flight from Santiago to Hanga Roa, Rapa Nui is 5.5 hours. Local tour guide will be waiting for you upon arrival. Transfer and check in to hotel then have lunch (at your expense)  Visit ancient OrongoTown. Located on the footsteps of Rano Kau Volcano Crater (with many lagoons inside), and on the side of the cliffs where the Tangata Manu ancient contest (Birdman cult) has been held, while enjoying expansive views of the Motus Islands. Visit the Rapa Nui Anthropological Museum then return to town to prepare for an amazing evening with an energetic Polynesian dance show at a local restaurant including dinner. (B at hotel in SCL, D)

Day 2: Myths and Legends Easter Island and Moai Statues

Ahu Akivi / Caves / Anakena / Rano Raraku AM After breakfast in your hotel. your local tour guide will pick up to begin exploring the island. Your first stop is Ahu Akivi: a ceremonial platform where you find the only moai statues looking at the ocean. Continue exploring nearby amazing caves with incredible views of the Pacific Ocean.  This is where the ancient people of Rapa Nui used to look for shelter and places to hide. Stop to relax at Anakena Beach and eat lunch (at your expense). Continue the guided tour by van to Rano Raraku Volcano, the "industry" or quarry of Moais. This is where most of the Moais were built and you will see statues still in progress before everything stopped. Return to your hotel where you prepare to dine in a local restaurant on your own. (B) (the order of activities may be shuffled if needed)

Day 3: Ahu Tongariki / Fly from Easter Island to Santiago

Visit Ahu Tongariki, the most famous Ahu, with 15 ancient statues standing against the stunning ocean landscape backdrop. OPTIONAL Hike through serene grassy meadows to view the tallest spot on the island. Although Terevaka volcano is extinct, you can see the old crater and amazing 360 degree views of the whole Island surrounded by sea. The hike is easy and has a duration around 2.5 hours roundtrip.  Return to hotel for luggage followed by lunch on your own. Transfer to the airport to board flight to return to Santiago (SCL). Arrive Santiago (usually after 9pm). Conclusion of Service.

Are 3 days enough time to explore Easter Island?

The island is shaped like a triangle 14 miles (23 km) long by 7 miles (11 km) wide, it has an area of 63 square miles (163 square km). Mount Terevaka, is the highest point at 1,969 feet (600 metres) above sea level. It is quite easy to drive around the island in one day, stopping at several historical sites. For most people, 3 days is enough time to experience the Rapa Nui culture and history.

    • It is not recommended that you book your international air connections on the same day as your flight to or from Easter Island.
    • Rent ATV's on your own.  MUST provide passport AND drivers license.  About $50 USD pp for 24 hours (subject to change)
    • Option to include sunrise horseback ride on Day 3 for added cost.
    • Warm, sub-tropical and humid in summer (FEB) and mild in winter (OCT)
    • February is warmest month with avg temperature 23C (72F) and coldest is August 17C (63F)
    • July is the wettest month at 140 mm of precipitation (which is about half the amount that Los Angeles gets)
