Pisac Archaeological Ruins: re-opened September 2016
One of the most popular tourist sites in the Sacred Valley of the Incas is now reopened for visitors. As of September 1, 2016, visitors can hike from the upper parking area to the Pisac archaeological complex. Roundtrip hike takes about 2 hours and as before, requires entry tickets.
Sadly, the closure of Pisaq Archaeological Ruins was precipitated by an accident on February 12, 2016, when a Peruvian family hiking to 
the Pisac ruins with 10 year old Valeria Arlette Garcia Escobar, died when crushed by a rockfall. Heavy rains the night before, coupled with strong sunshine may have loosened the rocks. Two other family members were injured. The area of the accident was not near any Inca structures.
Maintenance crews were dispatched to repair trails in April and the park has been approved to reopen.
