Free Consult For Your Trip to Machu Picchu
I'm offering a 20 minute complimentary consult by phone (In English!).to anyone who needs a little hand holding to set up their trip to Peru. After 17 years of visiting Machu Picchu more times than I can count, setting up a trip to Machu Picchu has become the pinnacle of advanced travel planning for even the most experienced globetrotters.
My aim is to provide a one-stop place to get answers to your specific questions.
Let me point out that you're not just getting access to my vast wealth of information and first-hand experience, I have a direct line to our native Peruvian manager in Cusco with whom I've been working for 17 years, in case I need clarification or "back-door intel."
I'm 68 years old, fit, active and overall a pretty jolly human. I've accompanied groups of teens, families, mixed ages, women-only, seniors, and other fantastic folks on many adventures of a lifetime. I've also been to Galapagos Islands, Chile and Patagonia, as well as one of my all time favorite places, Easter Island. Here's an overview of my experiences in Peru:
- Hikes - 4-Day Inca trail, 1-Day Inca trail, Lares Valley trek, short day hikes in Cusco and Sacred Valley, Santa Teresa region
- Machu Picchu by train
- All the circuits at Machu Picchu
- All the hikes at Machu Picchu
- Amazon jungle lodges and camps in Quillabamba, Puerto Maldonado and Iquitos (travel by air and by car)
- Lake Titicaca including home stays on Amantani Island and Luqina Peninsula
- Colca Canyon and Arequipa
- Rainbow Mountain day trips to two sites and overnight trips including Qeswachaka rope bridge
- Chachapoyas region Kuelap, Sarcophagi of Carajia, Gocta Waterfalls
- South of Lima - Paracas, Ica, Huacachina, Nazca
Is there anything I haven't done in Peru?
Yes. I have not done the Nazca lines flyover. Although I've been all over the region, I don't have interest in flying over the lines. I have set up Nazca flights for many groups. I know where the airports are and I understand the logistics for arranging the flights. And of course our local manager advises me if needed.
Here's how I can help you organize your trip to Machu Picchu:
- I can answer your specific questions about specific tours or activities and how they may or may not fit your interests or abilities. This could be things like trails, how to plan around altitude adjustment, what to do if you have a group of people with various interests and abilities, etc.
- suggestions for the best circuits at Machu Picchu. (Hint: if you're doing a 1 day trip to Machu Picchu by train, just go with C2 (A or B) to see the entire route of the ancient Inca city. There's not much time to add more routes. The village is worth stopping for a meal after your visit to Machu Picchu.
- information about specific tours and hikes in Peru
- feedback about your timeline for getting to and from Machu Picchu
- choosing hotels for their locations to your tours and activities.
- steer you to a list of trips with fixed dates for people who want to join a small group
Here's what I can't offer:

How to connect with me by phone in the US, in the state of Virginia, to discuss your trip to Machu Picchu
Step 1. Write up your details. I need to know: when you want to travel, days you need help with, how many people are in your group and what are their ages, have you booked anything like flights or hotels or entry tickets? For instance, if you have part of your itinerary in Peru locked down, and you need help synchronizing an activity or tour, that's the kind of thing I can help with in a short conversation.
Step 2. Make a list of your questions and send them in advance by email. This will help me prepare for our conversation and target my feedback to your personal needs.. Send to: [email protected]
In the subject line put your first name and FREE CONSULT
Step 3. I'll reply to your email with suggestions for times to talk. I'm not a fan of those online calendars where you set appointments. At this stage, I've been setting up phone appointments for many years with 1 or 2 emails to confirm. If things get out of hand, I'll look into the calendar idea. I'll send you my phone number in Virginia. We can talk on Whatsapp or Signal. And conference calls are OK with me.
What if you want to compensate me with a gift in return for my time and effort?
It's truly not necessary to repay me for my time. One day I may decide to set up consultations for a fee. But I'm not there yet. I've been quietly offering free info for years to anyone who reached out. This supports the local economy in Peru and I'm down with that. I'm not expecting a landslide of requests.
An even better idea, is to book a trip, a day tour or set up an activity. Our company beneifts and our local teams are employed.
Can you benefit by joining a small group trip to Machu Picchu, guided by our local licensed tour guides? Yes. We set up everything but the flights.
