Whether you choose to rest or explore, you'll enjoy a free day in the city of Cuzco. You can do as much or as little as you like. With plenty of activities from which to choose, you can easily walk to city center to enjoy the air at 11,000 ft above sea level and dine in one of many restaurants. Overnight in hotel in Cuzco. We recommend that you check out Mi Manera restaurant, located one block off the main square.
After your Peruvian breakfast buffet, your guide arrives with a private vehicle to take you through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Ollantaytambo and then by Peru Rail to the semi-tropical town of Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. The shuttle bus takes you to the sacred citadel, arriving by mid to late morning. The highlight of the trip is a private, guided tour of the Inca empire, Machu Picchu, followed by time to wander on your own. Pack your lunch or enjoy fresh sandwiches in the outdoor cafe at the main entry. Return to Aguas Calientes to catch the train back to the hotel in Cuzco.
