Peru Culinary Adventure- 7 Days

7-Day tour is guided by Yiever Cueva, our Inca Trail chef.  You'll start with a sampling of the traditional Andean foods found in the kitchen of a local restaurant. Try many varieties of potatoes, sample quinoa, a hi-protein grain & nibble on alpaca steaks.  Try your hand at preparing traditional Peruvian dishes before you head to a local village to "prepare & share" a meal.  This is not like any cooking school you have ever heard of!  Read what one of our travelers said:

"Our special day cooking in the small town near Pisac was something we will not forget.  We felt so welcomed and privileged to be able to eat with them.  If our chef has a recipe (click here) for the soup we made that he can pass along to us, that would be great!  If we get back to Peru we want to do a pacha manca meal like we talked about, someday!"      (Honeymoon couple)

Itinerary Highlights:  Cusco/Sacred Valley of the Incas/Village cooking/Grand Tour of Machu Picchu

Day 1

Arrive in Lima, Peru where you will be greeted and transferred to your  hotel for the night

Day 2

After breakfast, you will return to the airport for a short flight to Cusco, the famed capitol of the Incan empire.  Guide will meet you at the airport for transfer to your hotel to settle in your room.  Activity will be minimal as you adjust to the altitude.  A walk to the local restaurant of your choice, followed by a walking tour of the city, will keep you busy until time to cook your own Peruvian dishes for  dinner.  After dinner, those who are interested can explore high altitude nightlife.

Day 3

We'll travel to the outskirts of Cusco, including guided tours of Sacsayhuaman, the ancient Incan fortress perched above Cusco and nearby Tambomachay and Pukapukara.  Overnight in Cusco.

Day 4

After breakfast, your guide accompanies you to the Sacred Valley to visit the village where you will do your cooking.  A trip to the market provides the local ingredients needed to create your own masterpiece of culinary arts.  Spend the day with Chef Yieber in his "camp" kitchen learning & preparing ancient recipes & Peruvian dishes, as well as cooking techniques.  After you sample and share your meal,  return to your hotel for the night.

Day 5

Up early to catch the early train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu.  Here you can visit the local artisan market, relax in the local thermal spa and enjoy a dinner in the restaurant of your choice.

Day 6

Those who arrive early to Machu Picchu have the pleasure of viewing the ruins before other visitors arrive.  Your guide will give you a private tour before you are left to wander the ruins on your own.  By late afternoon, you will start the journey back to Cusco for the night.

Day 7

Free morning in Cusco.  Visit museums, ruins, shops and restaurants of your choice or just sit in the plaza and observe the people.  We terminate our service at the Cusco airport where you will catch your afternoon flight to Lima.  Late departure for overnight flight to your home or next destination.
