Cusco Culture & Amazon Jungle - 6 Days/$1050 pp

Cusco culture meets unspoiled jungle.  See the best of both worlds. Stroll the cobblestone streets of Cusco, Peru, visit Inca temples and Colonial churches; explore the artisans traditional neighborhood of San Blas; visit museums with ancient treasures; taste the exquisite New Andean cuisine at elegant restaurants; travel by train through impressive Andean highlands and cloud forests to the town of Aguas Calientes and then the final leg to Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas.
The second part of our trip includes a short flight to Puerto Maldonado (45 minutes) to your Peruvian jungle lodge.  Local guides arrange canoe trips and walks to explore flora, fauna and nature like you've never seen before.
Depending on availability, jungle trip may be scheduled before Cusco & Machu Picchu tour.

 

 

Itinerary Highlights:  Cusco/Machu Picchu/Sacred Valley of the Incas/Amazon Jungle

Day 1

Cusco:
Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Guided, walking tour of Cusco and visit to Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park.

Day 2

Cusco - Sacred Valley of the Inkas:
You try to absorb the stunning vistas only seen in the Andes as we tour the small towns of the Sacred Valley, including Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero.  Each town offers its unique interpretation of ancient customs and traditional life.  Chinchero is known for hand-dying and weaving fabric; Ollantaytambo is the oldest occupied Incan town and Pisac for its famous market.

Day 3

Cusco - Machu Picchu:
We take the early train through the countryside to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we connect with the bus for our final approach to the ruins of Machupicchu. Your guide conducts a private tour of the ruins, after which you are free to explore on your own.  We return to Cusco for the night.

Day 4

Cusco - Puerto Maldonado:
After a full Peruvian, buffet breakfast, you will transfer to the Cusco airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado. You will settle in to your room in the Lodge before you begin your jungle exploration.

Day 5

Jungle Exploration:
Explore the jungle, up close, from small canoes and on foot.   Birdwatching tours are highly recommended. Be as active or as still as you desire.

Day 6

Puerto Maldonado - Cusco - Lima,Peru:
Transfer to the PM airport and the conclusion of our services.  Fly to Cusco airport for connecting flight to Lima, Peru
