What happens when big life-changing event meets epic, trip of a lifetime?  A destination wedding in Machu Picchu, Peru is born. It's quite easy to arrange. US and Canadian citizens, and people from many other countries, only need a valid passport to enter Peru.  We can help with planning every step of the way.
First, here's 2 simple things to know:

  1. The destination marriage ceremony in Peru is symbolic and is facilitated by a Shaman.
  2. Ceremonies are not allowed inside the Machu Picchu National Park. We take you to special unknown Inca ruins in the Sacred Valley. Or we have selected several hotels with beautiful settings. (it's conveniently on the way to Machu Picchu)

Before choosing dates for your wedding,  consider these holidays and seasonal weather conditions:

  • Rainy season is from late November to early April.  Roughly speaking.  Machu Picchu is open 365 days a year.  From 6 am to 5 pm.
  • The month with the least amount of visitors is February, when the Inca Trail is closed for maintenance.
  • High season travel is associated with the following holidays:  Easter, Inti-Raymi (June 24) Peruvian Independence Day (July 28) and Christmas and New Year's.  Other national holidays may lead to congestion but typically do not significantly affect Machu Picchu ticket sales.  August is busy time to travel.
  • Because of the altitude, it's necessary to be prepared for rain year round. But there's a good chance of having dry skies from April to October.  For weddings during the rainy season, we have access to hotels in the Sacred Valley with covered spaces.
  • We can accommodate parties of 2 to over 100.

Once you choose your travel dates, it's helpful to know what your budget is:

  • How much does it cost? Here's a link to see the itinerary and cost for a trip to Machu Picchu  See this 7-Day trip to Machu Picchu
  • Flights are the single most costly item to affect your budget.  When tickets to Lima, Peru go on sale, that's the time to buy.  Having your guests committed and prepared in advance is an advantage when it comes time to book those flights.
  • The next biggest expense is hotels.  Standard tours to Machu Picchu include 3* hotels with private bath and hot water.  Upgrading to 5* will add hundreds of dollars to the bottom line.  Another option is to stay in 3* hotels except on your wedding night.  We can recommend hotels to fit any budget.
  • The minimum number of recommended days to travel to Machu Picchu comfortably, is 5.  We can squeeze in 1 day wedding ceremony on the way to Machu Picchu.  If budget permits, a trip of 6 or 7 days offers a slower pace and can be more enjoyable.
  • Families can save by sharing double and triple hotel rooms.

What's the first thing you should do?

  • Check everyone's passport.  Having a valid passport is essential to booking the Machu Picchu entry tickets, the train tickets, the hotels and the Peruvian flights.
  • People without a passport, planning to travel, should apply immediately for a new passport
  • Passports should not expire within 6 months of your arrival date.  Check those expiration dates.
  • The only document needed by a US citizen, is a valid passport.  There are no special visas or vaccinations needed.
  • All travelers are advised to consult their physicians regarding routine vaccinations and chronic health problems.
